Ovarro’s TBox remote telemetry unit has been integrated into the control architecture of an innovative renewable energy storage system.
Developed by Catalan startup ATOM H2, the containerised system converts surplus solar energy into hydrogen, stores it safely and then converts it back into electricity when needed.
Representing a new way of generating, storing and delivering clean energy, the technology provides uninterrupted renewable power, offering a clean, reliable and emission-free alternative to diesel generators.
It is aimed particularly at critical infrastructure where a continuous power supply must be maintained, such as telecom towers, and off-grid applications. ATOM H2 is preparing for the first commercial deployments of the system, following successful technical validations and onsite pilots.
Ovarro’s TBox was integrated into the unit’s control architecture by ATOM H2 and engineering partner IDNEO, both based in Barcelona, Spain, for certain monitoring, communication and remote management functions.
It will provide real-time remote monitoring and control of field assets, regardless of their geographical location, collecting and transmitting data from field devices and sensors to a central control centre.
The RTUs will be controlling the whole energy production and storage system and local and remote monitoring of all the equipment. OpenVPN protocol ensures the highly reliable and secure remote communications.
Becolve Digital, as the distributor of Ovarro products in Spain, supported and trained IDNEO and ATOM H2 to facilitate the fast and efficient adoption of the technology.
Carlos Canet, operational marketing director, Becolve Digital, said: “ATOM H2 provides autonomous, continuous, stable power to mission-critical sites where downtime is not acceptable. In this context, the robustness, high availability and ability to integrate with different protocols make TBox an ideal solution for equipment with demanding availability and supervision requirements.”
David Pollock, channel manager, Ovarro, said: “TBox has been trusted to monitor and control critical infrastructure for decades, and this project demonstrates how it continues to evolve alongside the latest technologies.
“As an industry first, it is exciting to see TBox supporting an emerging clean energy application. Reliable telemetry and remote monitoring provide the seamless communications needed to support informed decision-making as these innovative systems move towards commercial deployment.”
ATOM H2 was recognised at the 2026 Mobile World Congress Barcelona as one of the most promising startups in Catalonia and was named a Challenges of Tomorrow winner through CaixaBank’s EmprendeXXI Awards from CaixaBank’s DayOne technology division.
